Tasting Notes

2024 Chenin Blanc

Bronze award winning wine at the Perth Hills wine September 2025. Some waxy development, line fruit, worked course of citrus, good intensity, subdued lemon aromas and flavours, sweet attack, good mid palate concentration, zesty, clear yellow, lifted boiled fruit, worked course, well balanced, tad peaer lemon meyer fruit, crisp finish. Score 87.67. This Chenin was hand harvested in the cool early morning before crushing and pressing to stainless steel tanks. A long cold ferment and early bottling ensured the wine retained maximum freshness and the pure acid drive Chenin is renowned for.  Classic granny smith apple flavours dominate with more subtle green pineapple and lemonade lemon notes.

2024 Chardonnay

Just Missed out on a Bronze award at the Perth Hills wine September 2025 by 1 point. Bf style, well handled subtle oak, melody fruit, good length, dark yellow with yellow hues, evolved palate, pale yellow colour, mealy, generous fruit, well balanced, fresh vibrant.. Score 84.00 Ray Jordan Review: This is a lighter style Chardonnay, but it’s one with good flavour intensity delivered with a high degree of subtlety and finesse. It is a very complete wine that retains the natural energy and vibrancy of the fruit, but still, with it’s time in the egg, has a degree of richness and complexity, albeit understated without the intrusion of oak. Nice Lemony grapefruit, slightly brioche character and a very pleasing, delicately poised palate. Nice Wine. Cellar – 4 years. Score 92. This Chardonnay was hand harvested in the cool early morning before crushing and pressing juice to a mixture of stainless steel tank and ceramic egg. From the tank we get fruit purity and pristine acid freshness. From the egg we get some palate roundness and texture. The result is a mouth filling unoaked Chardonnay with lifted aromatics and generous grapefruit, white peach and nectarine flavours.

2023 Shiraz

Bronze award winning wine at the Perth Hills wine September 2025. Red fruit, floral and spice, sweet fruit mid, oaky finish, red cherry nose, little bit VA, dry tannins, finish warm and dry, brick red, simplesilky rich plush pure great lenth. Score 86.33. Ray Jordan Review: Shiraz works well in the Perth Hills, and this one is first-rate from this excellent vintage. Aromas of vanilla and spice with some deep plummy notes, the flavours build on a medium weight palate that is seamlessly integrated with fine tannins and gentle oak persuasion, creating a soft, plush and smoothly textured palate. Love the rich plummy fruit character and just that hint of confectionery cherry. This is an excellent wine, thoroughly enjoyable. Cellar – 6 years. Score 94. This Shiraz was hand harvested in the cool early morning before being crushing into traditional open topped fermenters and held on skins for 10 days during fermentation. With the cap worked every 6 hours, the wine developed a deep rich colour and firm structural tannins. Maturation occurred in Minnesota American Puncheons which has added spicy, sweet vanillin to the fruits natural earthy, rich blood plum and dark cherry flavours. Enjoy now or cellar over the medium term.

2023 Methode Traditionelle blanc de blanc (Sparkling Chardonnay)

Lemon meringue and biscuit aromatics with a hint of oyster shell and saline characters. Rich creamy palate with a fine and persistent mousse. Yellow peach and grapefruit flavours on a dry palate with saline drive giving good length. Drying lemon pith flavours on the finish.”
Chris SaysThe 2023 Methode Traditionelle Blanc de Blancs was also considered a very good wine by the tasters.  Jee and I were blown away by how drinkable it is so I’m thinking it’s going to be popular.  Maybe a bit of noise around the fact that it is our first Sparkling Chardonnay we’ve released!

2011 Methode Traditionelle Chenin Blanc (Sparkling Chenin)

Bronze award winning wine at the Perth Hills wine September 2025. Fine bead, creamy lees, nice acid line, lighter and tighter, higher rs, floral, lanolin, big mousse, very phenolic, pale yellow in colour, fresh, zesty waxy toasty notes lovely mouth fee lemon pith. Score 86.33. Ray Jordan Review: One of an increasing number of excellent sparkling Chenin’s being produced in WA. An excellent wine with lots of primary, vibrant, generous fruit. There’s a slight waxy stone fruit melon character there, but it has life and energy coursing, through a palate thats intense and long. Impressive little sparkling wine this. Cellar – 3 years. Score 91. This Chenin Blanc was hand harvested in the cool early morning before whole bunch pressing to a stainless steel tank. After primary fermentation a traditional secondary fermentation was conducted in bottle to produce this sparkling wine. Time on the yeast lees in bottle has built palate texture and flavour before hand disgorging when a small dosage liqueur is added to help balance the acidity. The result is a crisp and refreshing Australian Sparkling.
